Cinqo de Percy Jackson day

How can you resist a ten-year-old boy who, the first thing he says when he comes in breathlessly through the door after school is

"Can we go to the bookstore right now? Please Mom?  The 5th book is out today!"

You can't.  You really can't resist.

So, while we are definitely eating enchiladas and limeade, rolling our Rs, and hanging paper flowers (recycled from before) to celebrate Cinqo de Mayo...in the heart of one reader who is currently curled on the sofa flying through pages, this is cinqo de Percy Jackson day around here.

Don't know why it is, but there is nothing (well, not much) that tickles my fancy like an enthusiastic child reader! I'm so supportive of their enthusiasm, in fact, that I'm willing to sacrifice my book time to read their recommendations to me. MY 10 year old just finished "Savvy" and insists that my life will not be complete without it. So I add it to my list, and make room to make it a priority. I think you ought to RUN together to the bookstore!

That's great he loves reading so much. Jessica often visits your blog for ideas for inspiring reads. We have not heard of this one. Do your kids often read more than one book at the same time? Jessica often has several on the go. She has another book review out this Sunday.
Happy reading Sam.

McKay had his allergy check up at the downtown children's hospital this morning. I surprised him and stopped on our way in to get it. He was almost halfway through it by the time he got to school midday.

LOVE anything that makes them want to read that much.
